The Life Story...so far
DJ Carmen was born Alex Lonorgan on 11th September 1984, in Liverpool well actually in Maghull, Liverpool (the posh part). Was privately educated to university level and then went off the rails! Whilst working for Williams BMW and DJ’ing two nights a week she was asked to throw on a frock for a charity event , to which she replied “NO! Kiss my arse!”, after much persuasion and argument Alex appeared for the night dressed as the Queen of Hearts, in a rented frock, wig and cha cha heels, it wasn’t pretty!
Alex was quite content for that to be the end of his drag career, and didn’t intent to gain another blister from a pair of stilettos - until, “would you host a charity Blind Date dressed as Cilla Black” came along, yet again Alex argued the toss and yet again gave in, this time wearing a gold dress trimmed in feathers (which incidentally is still in Carmen’s wardrobe). Flush with the success of the comedy value Blind Date had brought Alex was then asked to DJ Friday nights at Liverpool Hope University in Drag, Alex didn’t argue this time he leapt to it and adopted the stage name ‘Dixie Lixie’ (which didn’t last long).
‘Dixie’ was doing well on her weekly student spot, and was in need of a change of name something more glamorous, whilst in a French class completing a listening exercise he was translating a piece about a girl called Carmen who got stuck in a Storm hence Miss Carm’N Storm!
Private bookings and Friday nights until Carm’n Storm then took up residency at the Masquerade Bar in Liverpool with good friend Marlene, this was only for a short period before applying to work for Basil Newby and ITP leisure in Blackpool.
Miss Carm’N Storm was invited to audition on a Tuesday night in June 2006 and has been in Blackpool ever since and has been lucky enough to work in every venue that ITP leisure own, including the world famous Funny Girls covering for Zoe (Carmen’s inspiration).
In November last year Miss Carm’N Storm decided to drop the Storm for every day use and simply be known as DJ Carmen, this happened at the same time as Carmen being given residency at ITP’s latest venue FG2 (the after party bar of Funny Girls).
Carmen loves her job and the people who both make it possible and who share in her love of music and comedy, she has no plans to stop she is just gonna get more and more Bitchy!!
